The Preserve’s Location

The existing Fox River Forest Preserve is found in the southwest corner of Lake County and is home to the Fox River Marina. This special forest preserve has a boat launch, dock slips, and a storage facility for watercraft. It also features scenic walking trails and beautiful views of the Fox River.

The Build Our Preserve project seeks to extend the Fox River Preserve trail system and develop the open space northwest of the roundabout at Roberts and River Roads in Lake Barrington. This previously protected land consists of hundreds of acres in need of environmental restoration as well as designs for hiking and walking trails.

If built, the extension to the Fox River Preserve could connect three villages, two townships, and several neighborhoods. Such an improvement will increase access to nature, connect communities, and enhance property values.
